The Assembly Insurance Committee will hold an informational hearing today to discuss fraud recommendations released by the California auditor in December.
Auditor Elaine Howle last year recommended that lawmakers consider requiring carriers and employers to send explanation-of-benefit forms to injured workers so they have the opportunity to identify spurious provider charges. The auditor also recommended the Department of Industrial Relations better document its efforts to use data analytics to combat fraud.
