Nonsubscription Includes Fewer Employers, but More Workers

A report by the Texas Department of Insurance shows the percentage of nonsubscribing employers in Texas dropped from 37% in 2006 to 33% in 2008, but the percentage of employees working for nonsubscribers rose from 23% to 25%.The report also shows more employers – particularly large employers - are reporting the availability of workers’ compensation health care networks as a primary reason for purchasing workers’ coverage, while many employers continue to cite high workers’ compensation premiums as a primary reason for not purchasing the coverage.The report’s findi...
