A Northern California nursery worker was ordered to pay $3,000 in restitution and serve one year of probation after pleading guilty to one count of grand theft for exaggerating the extent of her injuries, Intercare Holdings Insurance Services announced.
Margarita Soto-Gomez pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor theft charge Monday and was immediately sentenced. She paid the $3,000 restitution order at the time of sentencing, according to Intercare.
Soto-Gomez was also ordered to serve one year of summary probation and 40 hours of community service. She also had to pay $261 in court fines.
