Utah Injury Rate Declines to Record Low

The rate at which Utah workers suffered work-related injuries and illnesses dropped in 2000 to its lowest level since the state began compiling the data in the early 1970s, according to a recent news report from the Salt Lake Tribune. The Tribune reports that employers reported 47,500 injuries and illnesses, down 8 percent from 1999. The stats were released by the Utah Labor Commission, which compiles the data in partnership with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
