OAKLAND, Calif. -- Exempting certain low-cost medical procedures from utilization review in California would ease administrative burdens and speed care to injured workers, according to an analysis presented Friday to the state's labor-management advisory panel.
Researcher Barbara Wynn of the Rand Center delivered the reporting during a meeting of the Commission on Health and Safety and Workers’ Compensation as part of its ongoing analysis of the impacts of Senate Bill 863, a sweeping reform measure passed in 2012. The interim report focused specifically on utilization review.
