Both chambers of the Arizona Legislature have passed a bill that will require medical providers who prescribe opioids to first check with the state's prescription drug monitoring program database.
The Senate voted 28-0 to approve Senate Bill 1283 by Sen. John Kavanagh, R-Fountain Hills, on Wednesday, sending the measure to Gov. Doug Ducey's desk. The House of Representatives voted 58-0 to pass SB 1283 on March 28.
