Governor Signs Fraud, UR Bills

It went down to the wire, but California Gov. Jerry Brown on Friday signed into law bills to prevent doctors convicted of fraud from participating in the state’s work comp system, impose new lien filing requirements and prohibit utilization review for some treatments provided within the first 30 days of an injury. The governor also vetoed a bill that would have allowed carriers to use policy documents before filing them with the Department of Insurance in certain situations.  Friday was the last day for Brown to veto bills that would otherwise go into law without his signature...
