Two men prominent in workers’ compensation in Illinois have died: attorney John E. Cunningham and Dr. George J. Cooper.
Cunningham practiced before the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission for more than 40 years, according to an IWCC announcement. Cunningham, who also served in the Navy during the Korean War, died on March 28. He was 85.
According to an obituary, Cunningham worked for Zurich Insurance as an investigator and then at Wausau/Nationwide as a trial compensation attorney in addition to running a private practice. He practiced law for 50 years.
