A Texas trucking firm and a staffing company that was ordered to pay it $1.85 million for failing to provide workers’ compensation coverage and claims administration services have reached a deal to resolve their legal dispute, according to a report by Transport Topics.
In December 2015, a jury in Dallas ordered Rockwall-based staffing company Trendsetter HR to pay $1.85 million to Waco-based trucking firm Central Freight Lines Inc.
Trendsetter originally sued the trucking company, claiming that it stopped making payments. But Central Freight filed a countersuit saying it stopped making payments after a series of audits found that it did not have the comp coverage for which it was paying Trendsetter.
According to Transport Topics, Trendsetter was appealing the jury award when it reached a settlement with Central Freight. Terms of the settlement have not been disclosed.
Trendsetter is also suing AIG, saying the carrier failed to provide coverage for which it was paid, according to Transport Topics.
