Lawmakers in Washington state will take another a run at creating a presumption that certain diseases are compensable injuries for workers at the federal Hanford Nuclear Reservation this year.
Two bills introduced in 2017 would have created a presumption of compensability for Hanford workers who developed certain cancers. The presumption proposed in House Bill 1723, by the House Labor and Workplace Standards Committee, would have covered thyroid cancer, chronic beryllium disease, lung cancer, leukemia and respiratory disease.
