An excess level of combustible cornstarch dust led to $46,400 in proposed penalties against a Paris, Illinois, facility, the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration said.
OSHA cited Septimus Inc. for 21 serious safety and health violations after inspecting the plant in response to complaint. Septimus processes cornstarch for use in laundry detergent and other products.
