The Oregon Employment Department has published a study examining the state's post work injury vocational assistance program. Using data from 1997, the study concluded that those who availed themselves of the program had much higher success obtaining subsequent employment. Oregon provides vocational assistance to injured workers with the most severe vocational disabilities, those who cannot return to any job paying at least 80 percent of inflation-adjusted preinjury wages.
