Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker has appointed Gary D. Anderson as commissioner of the Division of Insurance.
Anderson has served as acting commissioner since February, following the departure of previous Commissioner Daniel Judson, who stepped down to take a job in the private sector.
The commissioner oversees a $53 billion industry with more than 1,600 licensed insurance companies and about 126,000 insurance agents licensed to do business in the state.
