The District of Columbia’s highest court last week overturned a decision of the Compensation Review Board that had denied a worker’s request for coverage of his oxycodone prescription as not medically reasonable or necessary.
In Holland v. District of Columbia Department of Employment Services, the court faulted the board for failing to consider the evidence that alternative therapies had been unsuccessful in managing Adonis Holland’s pain from a back injury, and evidence that he was not abusing his medication.
