Trench Collapse Injures Worker, Brings $90K in Penalties

A Colorado construction company faces $90,535 in penalties after an employee’s hip and leg were broken when he was buried in a trench that collapsed at a job site in Englewood, the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration said. OSHA cited Langston Concrete Inc. of Colorado Springs for failing to protect workers from trench collapse hazards, for not removing employees from a hazardous work area and for failing to install cave-in protection.
