Texas regulators will take a close look at the opioid prescribing practices of medical providers, as well as the appropriateness of their referrals for testing, under the medical quality review annual audit finalized by the Division of Workers’ Compensation on Thursday.
Adoption of the audit plan is the first step toward development of individual plan-based audits. The division said it will meet with stakeholders to gather input on how to select providers for the individual audits, the service times that should be reviewed, and how to pick subjects and case files.
