AMA Guides Author Requested Tennessee Delay

State Rep. Charles Curtiss, D-Sparta, said Wednesday he may amend his bill mandating a rollback of the Tennessee workers' compensation system to use of the Fifth Edition of the Guides for the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment at the request of the Tennessee Medical Association.And, Curtiss said, he sought the rollback at the request of Cookeville, Tenn., occupational physician Dr. Jim Talmage, who wrote the upper extremities section for the Sixth Edition of the AMA Guides.Under Tennessee law, the new edition automatically took effect for workers injured on or after Jan. 1.Curtiss said in ...
