A plumbing pipe maker in Brooklyn faces $150,000 in proposed penalties after the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited the company for potentially overexposing its workers to lead chemical and noise hazards.
OSHA initiated the inspection after an Acme Parts Inc. machinist had tested positive for elevated levels of lead in his blood. During the inspection, OSHA says, it found a number of violations that put the workers' health at risk through exposure.
