Fees for Medical Services Increasing 1.6% in 2019

Maryland medical providers will get a 1.6% pay increase next year, under an updated fee schedule approved by the Maryland Workers’ Compensation Commission.

The commission increased each of the separate Maryland Specific Conversion Factors for medical services and treatment, orthopedic and neurological surgical services, anesthesiology services and ambulatory surgery centers to account for an increase in the Medicare Economic Index for the first quarter of 2018.  

The commission also posted a new list of 2019 reimbursement rates for specific Current Procedural Terminology Codes and adopted Centers for Medicare and Medical Services ground rules. 

Changes to Maryland’s fee schedules are overseen by a Medical Fee Guide Revision Committee that has representatives from payers and receivers of health care services.
