The Nevada DIR has issued the first of its annual report on occupational disease claims of the heart, lungs or infectious/cancerous claims pursuant to new state law. The report states that of 104 occupational disease claims reported to the DIR for the calendar year 2001, 78 were denied. An estimated $352,414 in medical costs was reported for the 26 accepted claims, which is an average of
$13,554 per claim.
