Bureau of Labor Statistics has released new data reflecting that the number of serious workplace injuries fell again in 2000.
The BLS says that there were 1.66 million work-related injuries or illnesses that caused workers to miss more than one day of work in 2000, the last year for which the BLS has data. In 1999, workers suffered 1.70 million such illness or injuries. Strains and sprains constituted the largest single category of injuries, at 728,200, down 1.6% from a year earlier.
