Court Rejects Premises Liability Claim by Widow of Rock Star-Turned-Security Guard

A Tennessee appellate court last week ruled that an apartment owner had no duty to protect its security guard from the possibility of harm from the criminal actions of intruders on the property. Although a property owner generally has an obligation to provide independent contractors with a safe workplace, the Court of Appeals said the owner of the Cherry Crest Apartments did not need to shield Blake B.
