The Vindicator out of Youngstown, Ohio reports that the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation may revoke the self-insurance charter of WCI Steel. According to the report, the Bureau is concerned with the company's financial wherewithal to meet future workers' compensation obligations.In recent SEC filings, WCI reported a $17.5 million loss for the first half of fiscal 2003, and accumulated losses for 2001 and 2002 were in excess of $138 million.
