States that have implemented reforms to rein in prices of physician-dispensed drugs in workers’ comp claims initially saw good results, according to a new series of reports from the Workers’ Compensation Research Institute.
But the decline in the average price per pill began to reverse by the first quarter of 2014, the final quarter of the study period, as physicians increased their dispensing of new, more expensive strengths of certain generic medications, WCRI found.
