Legislation designed to correct statutes that were struck down by court rulings three years ago has passed a key Senate committee and may go to a floor vote next week.
The Senate Judiciary Committee this week approved SB 1340, which is sponsored by the committee chairman, state Sen. Anthony Sykes. It removes a number of provisions that were in HB 3277, which passed the full House last month.
Differences between the two bills will have to be hammered out in conference committee, said Rep. Leslie Osborn, R-Mustang.
