If Texas workers' compensation carriers had paid what air ambulance company PHI Air Medical billed in 2013, the company's profit margin would have averaged 200% to 300% per flight, attorneys for Texas' largest carrier say.
Now, PHI Air Medical is attempting to seal court documents that expose its rates to public scrutiny, said Matthew Baumgartner, the lead attorney representing Texas Mutual Insurance Co. in a case against the air ambulance company.
