Workers’ compensation hearing officers in Maine have reviewed five claims in the past year where medical marijuana was recommended in the treatment for injured workers, approving reimbursement for pot in three cases.
The claims — as well as a Minnesota carrier’s recent decision to reimburse a claimant for medical marijuana — may be a sign that the tide is starting to turn toward acceptance of medical marijuana in workers’ compensation.
