Premium Discounts for Drug-Testing Proposed

Legislation to provide a workers' compensation premium discount for employers who implement drug-testing policies to maintain drug-free workplaces has been introduced by Rep. Jessica Farrar, D-Houston. HB 2430 would have the Texas Division of Workers' Compensation establish a premium discount not to exceed 5% for employers who choose to put substance abuse testing programs in place. Employers would apply for certification by the division that their programs met the requirements established under the bill.
