Former N.Y. Broker Sentenced to Probation

A former Binghamton, N.Y., broker whose license was revoked in 2002 drew five years' probation this week for continuing to sell bogus insurance to clients stretching from New York City to Watertown, N.Y.The New York State Insurance Department (NYSID) announced Tuesday that Thaddeus J. Okoniewski, 59, was sentenced in Broome County Court after admitting that he collected more than $90,000 in premiums based on illegal sales.The court delayed sentencing following Okoniewski's 2007 guilty plea so that he could make restitution to his victims.Okoniewski was arrested in September 2006, follo...
