Mental Health Bill Clears Legislature

A bill that would allow Colorado workers to be compensated for post-traumatic stress disorder and other mental impairments is heading to the desk of Gov. John Hickenlooper. The Senate on April 19 voted 28-6 to pass House Bill 1229, by Rep. Jonathan Singer, D-Boulder. The House of Representatives passed the bill 52-11 on March 27. Singer’s bill would eliminate a statute limiting compensability for post-traumatic stress disorder to events not related to a worker’s typical job responsibilities in an effort to make it easier for police and other first responders to be compensated...
