Steve Buehrer, the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation executive who took the helm of a monopoly workers' comp system so flush with cash that it slashed rates while still giving $2 billion in rebates to employers, is resigning his position on April 15, Gov. John Kasich's office announced.
The governor's press release said Buehrer is leaving for the "private sector," but provided no other details on the reason for Buehrer's departure. In a statement, Buehrer said he was proud of his accomplishments.
