The Washington state Department of Labor and Industries fined a construction company $126,400 for failing to protect workers from dangers of working around open trenches.
The department said Colf Construction, a subcontractor on a bridge project in Ridgefield, failed to ensure that workers were protected from the risk of cave-ins, failed to inspect excavation sites on a daily basis and failed to provide workers with fall protection.
