The commissioner of workers’ compensation would have additional factors to consider when levying penalties for technical violations under a bill sent to the governor last week.
The House passed SB 1895 by a 143-0 vote on Thursday. The Senate passed it unanimously on April 26.
It would amend the Labor Code to require the commissioner in assessing an administrative penalty to consider whether the violation has a negative impact on the delivery of benefits to an injured worker.
