Workers' compensation attorneys who want their fees approved more than 30 days after a claim closes in Kentucky will soon be out of luck.
Once a settlement is reached, attorneys have 30 days to file a motion for attorney fee approval with the Kentucky Division of Workers' Compensation. Currently, DWC accepts both online and paper copies of this motion.
But because the agency has been receiving paper copies of the motion after the 30-day deadline has passed, it will discontinue the practice of accepting paper copies of the motion on Aug. 18.
