Roofer Gets One Year in Jail for Failure to Pay Comp Premiums

A Simi Valley man has been sentenced to 365 days in county jail and ordered to pay $1.058 million in restitution to the State Compensation Insurance Fund for underreporting payroll and failing to pay workers’ compensation insurance premiums. Paul Ronald Payne, 51, ran a roofing and painting business called Paul Payne Roofing, the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office said in a news release.
