The Department of Industrial Relations issued its year 2000 audit report in electronic format yesterday. Dated April 2001, the report covers 54 audits and 10 investigations. 8,921 claim files were reviewed, 3,591 of which were indemnity claims, 2,968 were medical only, and 2,041 were injury denied claims.
As a result of the audits, 10,354 penalties were assessed, totaling $1,524,470. 559 claims showed an underpayment of benefits in a gross amount of $454,868.94, or an average of $813.72 per file.
