In an opinion not certified for publication, the Fifth District of the California Court of Appeals ruled that an employer owes no duty of care to a pedestrian employee utilizing an adjacent public road. In Saran v. W.M. Bolthouse Farms, No. F047107, 04/18/2006, Baldev Saran was hit by a car and injured when he was crossing the street to get to work at Bolthouse Farms' (Bolthouse) property.
