An Ontario provincial court fined a rental company that supplies and erects tents for corporate and private events $130,000 for an incident that electrocuted an employee and seriously injured another.
Justice of the Peace Sally Fallon of the
Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton fined Advanced Tent Rental Ltd. The company pleaded guilty to one count of failing to take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances
for the protection of a worker.
The judge on Monday also fined an unnamed company supervisor $6,000 for the same offense, according to the Ontario Labor Ministry.
