New regulations requiring California insurers to submit certification forms to verify that claims adjusters and medical bill reviewers meet minimum standards of training or experience take effect today, the state Department of Insurance announced.
The new regulations are designed to help speed appropriate care to injured workers and eliminate dysfunction that adds cost to the system, the department said in a press release. The new regulations complement the workers' compensation reforms of 2004 and are a result of Assembly Bill 1262 by Assemblywoman Barbara Matthews, D-Tracy.
