The Aug. 13-14 event, known as Module II, will provide 14 hours of continuing education for adjusters, nurses, case managers, payer professionals and others. It will cover workers' compensation law, court rulings, claims handling, responsible case management and cost containment, LASIE announced.

The seminar will also cover benefit exposures, rehabilitation issues, penalties, attorneys' fees and subrogation.

Speakers include insurance defense lawyer Wayne Fontana, one of the lead attorneys in a landmark Louisiana Supreme Court ruling in April known as Burgess v. Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans, which allows employers to choose the pharmacy in workers' compensation claims.

Gary Williams, a claims supervisor for LCTA Workers' Compensation Insurance, and Ronnie Francis, the claims manager for LCTA, will also lead sessions. Richard Seelman, a well-known workers' compensation defense attorney in New Orleans, will be a keynote speaker.

The seminar will be at the Bankers Center in Baton Rouge. Registration is available here.
