After a crane's safety latch failed and caused 1,000 pounds of equipment to fall on a worker below, the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration proposed $393,500 in fines against a steel manufacturer.
OSHA on Oct. 30 cited TimkenSteel Corp., based in Canton, Ohio, for one willful, one repeated and two serious health and safety violations. It was the second time OSHA had cited the company within a year.
