Two Washington state workers' compensation claimants are charged with felony theft after allegedly lying about their injuries in order to receive benefits, the Department of Labor & Industries said Monday.
According to charges filed by the state Attorney General's Office, 50-year-old Sulia Hernandez Carranza filed a claim stating she had injured her knee in May 2014 while chasing a shoplifter as part of her job as a loss-prevention specialist for a grocery store in Pasco. The store allowed her to keep working with medical restrictions while her knee was being treated.
