DWC Sets Requirements to Cover Seasonal Workers

The Division of Workers’ Compensation has set its adjusted payroll requirement for employers of seasonal workers under the provisions of Texas Labor Code 406.162. The amount for 2018 will be $55,922, based on the state Comptroller of Public Accounts’ calculation that the inflation rate during the period of Sept. 1, 2016, through Aug. 31 was 2.08%. Seasonal workers for agricultural company owners with annual gross payrolls of at least $55,922 will be considered employees covered by the Texas Workers' Compensation Act.
