The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation has suspended all cancellations of workers' compensation and other property and casualty policies since Sept. 27, in 16 counties that were pounded by Hurricane Michael last week.
The emergency order, issued Wednesday morning, automatically extends coverage, even if the insurance carrier had sent a cancellation notice up to 10 days before the storm began moving toward the coast on Oct. 7, Insurance Commissioner David Altmaier said.
The hold period extends for 90 days.
