Under final regulations to be announced today, surviving dependents of 9/11 victims will get an estimated extra $50,000 per survivor from the federal compensation fund than what was previously proposed. The average family will receive about $1.7 million over the course of life time payments, which is $100,000 more than forecast in the original December draft plan for the fund.
