The Insurance Chronicle yesterday reported a legislative attempt in Missouri by business lobbyists to change "a" to a "the" in the statute that defines what a work place injury is.Present Missouri law provides that a compensable injury is one where work is "a" major factor contributing to an injury. It is hoped by business that changing "a" to "the" will tighten the definition and lead to a slowing of claims and help eliminate fraud.
