Manufacturer Fined $110K After Chemical Exposure Incident, Face-Smashing Injury

A Wisconsin steel pipe manufacturer faces $110,458 in federal penalties after one employee was exposed to elevated levels of a toxic chemical and another was hit by a piece of machinery that shattered his jaw.  All told, inspectors found 13 violations of federal health and safety protocol at Felker Brothers Corp.'s Marshfield facility.  Inspectors found that the company used damaged cranes, altered forklifts without the manufacturer's approval, failed to inspect electrical outlets and allowed combustible materials to be stored within 35 feet of welders.  It also maint...
