Senate Confirms Balasubramani Appointment as SAIF Director

The Oregon state Senate unanimously confirmed the appointment of Krishna Balasubramani to a second term on the SAIF Corp. board of directors.

Balasubramani is a partner in the firm Sather, Byerly and Holloway LLP in Portland, and represents employers in the Pacific Northwest in employment matters, including wrongful termination lawsuits, administrative complaints to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and workers' compensation cases, the state-chartered SAIF Corp. said in a statement.

Prior to joining Sather, Byerly and Holloway in 1996, he was a pro tem administrative law judge for the Workers' Compensation Board.

Balasubramani was first appointed to serve a four-year term on the SAIF Corp. board in September 2013.

Directors are appointed by the governor to serve four-year terms representing organized labor, policyholders and legal practitioners. The other members of the SAIF Corp. board of directors include:

  • Jenny Ulum, managing director of strategic communication at King Estate Winery in Eugene.
  • Kevin Jensen, former business manager for Ironworkers Local 29 in Portland.
  • Maurice Rahming, president of O'Neill Electric in Portland.
  • Jeff Stone, executive director and CEO of the Oregon Association of Nurseries in Wilsonville.

The other members were appointed in 2014 and will be up for reappointment next year.
