Hand Injury Probe Prompts $40,150 in Fines

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration issued 18 citations and a total of $40,150 in fines to Sodus Cold Storage Co. of Sodus, N.Y., in relation to a March 21 incident in which an employee was injured when his hand became caught in an unguarded augur on a conveyor system. OSHA issued the company one willful citation, with a fine of $28,000, for allegedly failing to guard the augur.
