The Occupational Safety and Health Administration announced the start of a local emphasis program in western Missouri aimed at reducing workplace health hazards in the automobile body shop industry.
OSHA noted that health hazards common to automobile body work include exposure to solvents, chemical sensitizers including a group of compounds known as isocyanates, various metals and metal compounds contained in spray finishes and exposure to particulates.
